| Sierra
Nevada Chapter 46 is headquartered in Reno, Nevada.
Located just a short drive from world-famous, scenic Lake
Tahoe as well as a variety of outdoor recreational areas,
residents of the area can enjoy many seasonal activities.
Our area went through a major growth boom in the late 1990s
through 2007, but it still has a rural feeling about it.
Once we leave the city limits,
we can
drive through areas where many large family ranches have
been in existence since the early twentieth century. Washoe
County contains approximately 4.3 million acres, of which
76 percent is owned by the Federal Government.
Population
growth in our area has been about 24% between 2000 and 2010.
Washoe County's population in the year 2011 has been estimated
by the U.S. Census Bureau to have reached 421,407.

The Reno-Sparks community has transitioned into a thriving
business locale for companies like Microsoft, Barnes &
Noble and Intuit, among many others.
Right
of Way issues abound here, even though the recession has
seriously impacted private property development in recent
years.
Keeping
in contact with other professionals is vital in our work
world. The IRWA provides the networking opportunities that
put us in contact with others whose work relates to ours,
and keeps the lines of communication open.

Chapter
46 meets every third Wednesday of each month at Sierra Pacific
Power Company, 6100 Neil Road in Reno. Each meeting features
an interesting speaker from our area, keeping us informed
about important issues that affect our work as professionals
dealing with right of way concerns.
