Aurora Ritter, Manager of Airport Economic Development, Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority
This month, IRWA Chapter 46 is proud to shine our Member Spotlight on Aurora Ritter, a dedicated professional whose work at the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) is helping shape the economic future of northern Nevada.
Aurora has been a valued part of the RTAA team for 11 years, with the last 8 years spent as the Manager of Airport Economic Development. Before that, she served for 3 years as the Real Estate Supervisor. Her primary mission? Transforming land and facilities at both Reno-Tahoe International Airport and Reno-Stead Airport into revenue-generating assets. Ensuring the Airport Authority remains as self-sustaining as possible.
“No two days are the same,” says Aurora. “There are always new projects happening across the airport, and often opportunities to get involved beyond my day-to-day responsibilities.”
From Finance to Runways
Aurora's path to airport economic development began in a different sector—finance. She spent a decade in the financial industry before transitioning into commercial real estate with Prologis. That experience laid the groundwork for her current success, especially in navigating complex development projects.
Her interest in Right of Way developed organically through collaboration with developers building on RTAA-owned land. She is now a member of Chapter 46, where she values the opportunity to build strong relationships with local professionals and agencies who are key players in airport projects.
Highlights and Honors
Among her many accomplishments, Aurora is particularly proud of being named the RTAA’s 2024 Nevada Women’s Fund Woman of Achievement—a testament to her leadership and impact. She’s also witnessed her share of unique airport moments, including the time Tesla cars raced down a runway during the Gumball 3000 Rally. (don’t worry, it wasn’t in active use!)
What has surprised her most about her work at RTAA? “I had no idea just how intricate the inner workings of an airport are,” she admits. “It’s like a small city—with its own police and fire departments!”
Beyond the Office
When she’s not navigating development projects or meetings, Aurora is likely spending time with her 9-year-old son, cheering him on at sporting events, or relaxing with her two dogs (Truckee and Trixie) and a tortoise named Charlie. Originally from Winnemucca, Nevada, she remains connected to her roots and values time outdoors—especially camping with family and friends.
She’s also looking forward to an upcoming trip to Cancun, a special destination where she and her husband were married and return to as often as they can.
